Mike Burke Is An Artist On The Rise
Last fall, our friends at Southwest Airlines held the “On The Rise to Live In The Vineyard” contest and Mike Burke rose to the top to earn a performance slot at our sister event.
Burke is a singer-songwriter with soul, rock and country influences – often described as a cross between Chris Cornell, Chris Stapleton, and Ray Charles. As a solo artist and multi-instrumentalist, he has toured nationally playing smaller iconic venues such as The Bitter End, Hotel Cafe and Joe’s Pub to performing at larger stadiums like Nationals Park and The Staples Center. He has also toured internationally performing at MIDEM in Cannes and Fete de Musique in Paris.
Growing up in a musical family from Boston, MA Burke started writing and playing at a very young age. The genres of music he listened to growing up included Country, Hip Hop, Soul, Doo-Wop, Rock, and the Blues, all of which can be heard in his music and seen in his performances today.
He has been named a “Writer to Watch” by Nashville Songwriters Association International several times and has garnered a dedicated following for both his music and his philanthropy. His song ‘If We Could See,’ the title track off his second album, won Song Of The Year at the 2012 Malibu Music Awards. Burke is currently working on his third EP which and he recently released a single, ‘If You Were an Ocean’.
